MYTHS ABOUT BRAIDED FISHING LINE

Spools of FINS Braided Fishing Line
FINS Braidman, Dave Burch, has been behind 33 different brands of spectra based products and FINS is his private label and he's been selling it now for quite a few years but that's why sometimes he is known as the Braidman. He is often asked which of the materials is the best for braided fishing line? Is it Dyneema? Is it spectra? Is it PE? The truth of the matter is they're very similar they're all made of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fibers. They're all multi filament yarns. They're all about equal in strength the big thing that differentiates them is the size of the micro fibers that make up the yarn bundles. The bigger the fiber and the bundle is or the bigger the micro fibers in the bundle the better abrasion resistance you're going to get. If you've used a line that gets hairy and fuzzy quite quickly it's because it's got very small micro fibers in the bundle. We like spectra fiber made by Honeywell that are more robust, so FINS lines do not prey or get hairy on you.
